As I just reported, #Yankees’ Jeter left game due to issue with or near surgically repaired left ankle.
Red Sox finally close things out. 87-57, 8 games ahead of Tampa in the East, 3.5 games ahead of Detroit for home field advantage in the AL.
On August 24, Boston and Tampa were "tied" (with Tampa ahead by win pct due to fewer games played) for the AL East lead. Since then, Boston has gone 11-2 while Tampa has gone 3-10.
They were 8 games ahead of Tampa on September 6, 2011.
edit: Pirates DFA James McDonald today.
The Rays are doing a fair 2011 Red Sox impression.
Brian Roberts is awesome and now double number 47 for Machado.
