Sigh. Tommy Hanson tonight. Sigh.
Mike Nelson: "WE GOT BASEBALLLLLLLL"
"That's it! We'll launch A-Rod into space and force him to watch cheesy movies, the worst that we can find!"
Marlins - Angels?
The Tigers, Royals, and Indians have all been red-hot. It'll be interesting to see if the Royals and Indians play well enough to keep in contention.
Somewhere, Bud Selig goes: "That's it! We'll launch A-Rod into space and force him to watch cheesy movies, the worst that we can find!"
There are currently 11 pitchers in MLB with more than 25 innings pitched and an ERA under 1.50. Five pitchers with ERA under 1.00. Am I crazy, or is that a high number?
Lorenzo Cain deserves a Gold Glove.
I think I can answer this one. No. No, they cannot.
Major leaguers named "Caleb" are like buses - you wait 142 years for one, and two come at once.
Every day that his break is delayed makes it less likely that he will be able to come back
OK, so the Tigers are planning on their starting shortstop taking a break for a while (say, 50 games). They've hired a replacement. There are 56 games left in the regular season for the Tigers. Every day that his break is delayed makes it less likely that he will be able to come back & contribute in the playoffs. (Assuming the Tigers make the playoffs.)
J Lake singled to center.
I like Eduardo Sanchez -- I always thought he had a future as a solid reliever. He walks too many guys, of course, but he has a live arm. He's just 24 - were the Cardinals really that tight for 40 man space?
Convenient timing with these "delays", isn't it? My assumption is that MLB is hoping to recreate the animosity that occurred between Melky Cabrera and his Giants teammates by having the suspensions keep the players out for essentially the rest of the season and therefore cause the most annoyance to their teammates by them not being there at all for the stretch run.
Then we have the cure for what ails ye: #6Org, AKA the Seattle Mariners. Yes, 6org has since the 2009-2010 offseason provided the league endless amusement while providing great memories of slumpbusting and amazing comebacks. So if you are feeling glum, ask the baseball gods if #6Org is right for you!*
'Tis a tragedy that Jose Fernandez must pitch for the Marlins.
Tis a tragedy that Jose Fernandez must pitch for the Marlins.
Not for long.
No, I fear that, like Stanton, Loria shall keep him in purgatory for all eternity while every other player is traded away.
didn't look that serious to me but gorzelanny goes out after werth's hit ricochets off him
Now Craig with a Homerun...Cardinals have a 12-0 lead and have outscored the opposition 25-0 in the last 14 innings.
I'm not saying Allen Craig will be one, but how often does a player have 100 RBIs and less than 20 HRs lately?

Something about being in LF for Atlanta this year turns you into an awful fielder. Joey Terdoslavich just had about the most awkward looking catch you'll ever see for a ball hit right at an outfielder.
Jose Fernandez struck out 14.
Well he and Gattis are playing out of position. And to a lesser extent, so was Upton.
Thanks CFB. So ten in the last 10 years with less than 20 HR and 100 RBI?
Maybe not as rare as I thought, happens once a year.
