Cliff Lee's past 3 starts vs. #Braves: 1-2 w/ 1.08 ERA, 36 strikeouts, 1 walk in 25 inn.
On April 10th, Chipper Jones spent 15 minutes with BJ Upton in the batting cage.
In the early going, looks like Gallardo vs Volquez is your matchup of the day
And he was probably drunk too
I'm gonna watch this. I refuse to believe Volquez isn't going to explode today,
MLB Stat of the Day: Julio Teheran last night became the first pitcher to throw a complete game shut out against the Phils since they moved in to Citizen’s Bank.
Not even Ernie Banks would want to play today's double-header.
You should watch this one, and not watch the Angels game.
Today should be a fun day for the Jays. They're playing a day night doubleheader in Minnesota with a bench that consists of whichever catcher isn't catching and infielder Jonathan Diaz. Colby Rasmus is hurt, so the outfield is Melky Cabrera in left, Moises Sierra in right, and Jose Bautista in center.
Jordan Danks is not a top prospect, he's a cromulent 4th OF. De Aza is a proven 2 WAR player that has value to other teams should he continue to be a 2 WAR player. It's obvious why Danks isn't playing. Never understood Sox fans' crush on the guy. Yea he's a good soldier that has some talent and probably deserves a spot in MLB as a lefty 4th OF, but De Aza bats left as well, on this Sox team Danks is a 4th OF, no more no less.
De Aza is a mental midget at times but he's also a pretty good regular. I can see why Sox fans don't like the guy as he gets throw out on the bases often but then again so does Jordan Danks.
Andrelton Simmons strikes out for the first time on the season.
Andrelton Simmons strikes out for the first time on the season. April 17, 2014: The Day The Music Died.
Vlad Guerrero didn't strike out until April 19, 2000, in his 54th plate appearance. Fewer games than Simmons but more PAs.
How can anyone not love Jacoby?
I love it when a guy with an OPS+ of 56 gets intentionally walked.
I concede that the Braves and Cardinals are playing better baseball right now,
With this replay sys, you're losing the life and the fire of a guy like Earl Weaver turning his cap around to get even closer to a poor ump's face, or Piniella ripping out the bag and tossing it.
Bad news: that one play will probably convince Matheny to put the hit and run on ALL ####### YEAR.
Why is Wainwright still in this game? Didn't they just call up 5 relievers? With a 7 run lead, let's get them some work.
Russell Martin is a very good catcher. So is Jonathan Lucroy. Both kind of underrated, I think.
