This really looks to be the make or break game for ATL-LA.
There are plenty of tickets available for the Monday game in Detroit for 20-30 bucks on Stubhub. That's crazy. WTF Detroit?
I bet most of those tickets are also super-high-up or SROs, too.
What's that at PNC - a univerally-acclaimed wonderful place to see MLB? A "moat" by the expensive seats!
Wow. Marlon Byrd sure ate his Wheaties these last few weeks for the Pirates. Who'd would've thunk it?
What a horseshit inning... a bogus walk followed by a deflected grounder and the Pirates get two. Liriano better not get any called strikes on the bottom edge of the zone.
MLB Gameday says those pitches to McCutchen were borderline, but closer to balls than strikes, and certainly not Eric Gregg-ish. I just checked in, so I don't know how the top of the 1st went; was Liriano getting that call?
Well I hope Salvomania is placated, because Liriano just failed to get the same call that Joe Kelly also failed to get last inning.
It's not as much meant to be a smackdown of PNC, but I wanted to point out that other places besides New Yankee Stadium have some of the reviled "features" that get brought up every time we discuss NYS.
Even if the HP umpire's strike zone is crap, as long as he calls it consistently then both teams have to accept it. But if the Cards are getting shafted then that's bogus. This is not the time to give seniority favors to these umps, they should conduct a poll of <somebody> and put the best bunch out there.
Pitches #1 and 3 to Liriano were right on the bottom edge
