Couldn't quite stay up last night to finish the game, so instead of checking the scores I figured I'd just refresh game chatter where I left off and follow it that way. Fun way to do it.
Ugh, Red Sox-Rays starts at 8:30. That game will go past midnight. I feel like the order should have been the other way around.

Oh yeah, Detroit is in the Eastern time zone also. For some reason when I made the other post I was thinking it was Central.

And sad to say, there are probably more Bosox fans in the Pacific time zone than A's fans...or should I say, more upscale Red Sox fans than A's fans. (In Silicon Valley, A's fans are the hourly workers, Bosox fans their high-salaried bosses.)
Until 1973, Detroit was a de facto Central Time Zone city during the baseball season, since Michigan refused to adopt Daylight Savings Time on a permanent basis until then.
I call it the Redwings effect. For years, the NHL had the Redwings in the Western conference despite being all the way in Michigan. Drove me nuts every time the Kings had to play them in the playoffs and thinking there was a distinct disadvantage for any west coast team playing a playoff series against Detroit, just because of the time and flyover factor.
Feels like this is the game to win for the Red Sox. They don't want to have to beat Moore again, especially since they only got to him last time because of shoddy defense.
I think we'll see Moore tonight if Hellickson gets into any trouble at all and Price on Thursday (if necessary). In theory, on 3 days' rest you'd figure he could come in and right the ship for 4-5 innings (or less) if Hellickson gets hammered early, and you arguably don't lose much by having Price throw a Game 5 on normal rest.
I don't have a ton of confidence in Straily but I don't have a ton of confidence in Doug Fister either.
Lerrin Legrow to throw out the first pitch in Detroit!
Can you imagine the shitstorm if that happened today? I think Skip Bayless would quite literally explode.
Does anyone know where Bert Campaneris is??!???
The 2000s, though, have been terrible.
there is a story on CBS website that Parker has been complaining about a dead arm and might not be able to pitch in the next round.
This is no time for productive outs! Take advantage, for ye know not what evil lurks behind that bullpen wall! (spoiler alert: Scherzer)
That Rays/Sox game last night should have been a really good one. But I found myself tuning out for long periods because the pace was glacial. I think MLB could make people think they'd fixed the slow pace problem if they'd stop putting the AL East on TV.
Never less than 30 seconds and sometimes a full minute. It was just ridiculous.
If Fister keeps pitching like this, Detroit has no chance.
