Going by the records of teams on this date, the Rangers have played zero games against teams with a winning record (weighted average winning percentage of their opponents is .406). The AL West has been the worst division in baseball to this point in the season (combined 16 games under .500, -62 run differential).
The media spins this as a test of whether the Red Sox are 'for real,' but you could equally wonder about whether the Rangers are 'for real' given the quality of their opponents to this point of the season.
Dodgers (13-14) v. Giants (16-12)
Kershaw v. Zito
Rangers have played zero games against teams with a winning record
Flip side of this is the Cardinals, who have played zero of their 28 games against a team with a losing record. Of those teams, only the Phillies are now currently under .500.
The only decent teams they've played so far are the Rays and Angels, and both of those squads are slumping badly
The NL Central is going to be a fun race this year. There might not be a great team in there (I'm not sure there will be a great team that stands out this year), but they are all pretty competitive with the one obvious exception. Teams like the Cardinals and Pirates have played better than their records/pythag might indicate (and their records are pretty good).
Random thing that went through my head a day ago: Who was better AT THEIR PEAK--- Pedro or Koufax?

Oh, and nobody cares about your fantasy team.
Am I crazy?
I am rolling the dice and starting Matt Moore in Colorado. Am I crazy?
Anyone pitching in Colorado is a bit of a risk but you'd hate yourself if he went out and threw up 7 innings of 5 hit, 1 run ball with 10 K. I think that's more likely than him getting truly, standings-alteringly battered.
I wasn't depressed about the Braves cooling off after the torrid start until they got shut down by Dan ####### Haren.
but his sinker or cut fastball had some serious movement. He was not throwing easy to hit strikes and he was throwing a lot of strikes.
When did the Rangers become the Giants? They've gone from the team that has 18 starter-quality hitters and needs to figure out who to trade them for, to a team with five starting pitchers under 30, two of whom I've never heard of, all with an ERA under 3.60, and all their hitters suck except the creaky veterans.
There's also a report that Jordy Mercer is about to be called up, which suggests either that Neil Walker will be headed to the DL or that John McDonald is about to be released.
Jay Bruce did something positive! Take that, twitterers!
Hmmm. Hunting accident? Hand through glass door? Fishing wedding ring out of garbage disposal?
the yahoo description of the play said a ground out to the pitcher with the bases loaded scored a run
Doing the AJ double feature... will be closely watching Span, LaRoche, McCutchen and Martin.
In the Griffin-CC game Cespedes, Reddick, Ichiro and Overbay (it's in the NAME !)
Godspeed METS ! :)
Jesus christ a 7:30 start, I could be dead by then.
I'm torn between thinking it's a shame that McCutchen is "wasting" his talent in Pittsburgh. On the other hand, Pirates fans need some decent play to give them a glimmer of hope.
At least everybody who has ever been has nothing but good things to say about PNC Park in Pitt. I really want to make it to a game there this season.
I like the new and improved Duda.
The new and improved Ricky Romero, on the other hand, might not get out of the fourth inning vs the Seattle Mariners.
Mariners have 3 runs in already and the bases are loaded with only one out.
Wait! Who is this guy who resembles LaRoche at 1B??? Whom did he have to blow to get there???!!!
If he doesn’t think I can make that play, he’s crazy.
