The Orioles could (should?) compete for the playoffs so the risk is that Jurrjens could be awful and cost them games. I haven't loved the Orioloes offseason. They haven't really done much and this is a division that is up for grabs right now.
Good deal imho cheap but should of had an option year. But its worth the flyer. If he does well and they dont then you can flip him at the deadline. If they do well and he does well then offer arb and get the draft pick. And well if he sucks of 5 mil of petes dollars
Did the braves dfa him this off season then? If so i think that was a dumb move...trade him for a lottery ticket instead of getting nothing.
I think it's cute when an 82-win team pisses on Pythagoras' grave and then stands pat, thinking they really have a 93-win contender.
Keep on thinking the O's were a fluke because your small mind doesn't value 1-run and extra inning victories.
Oh, I think it's just the opposite -- if the Orioles thought they were one player away from contending again they'd have made a big move. To me it looks like the Orioles are aiming to keep heads above water, put together an 80-85 win season and see how the young players develop. It's not clear there was a big move that made sense for the Orioles's needs this off-season.
O's reportedly have no interest in the Cuban defector due to Angelos.
