Sax said that he would keep Alvarez in the lineup.
Josh Harrison is good, Ike Davis is not.
Chuck Knoblauch: "Pedro Alvarez is Completely F**ked"
Pedro Alvarez, career: .233/.314/.392 (OPS+ 99)
I noticed that last year Pedro Alvarez led the league in homers, strikeouts and errors. I think he is the only person ever to do that, mostly because the league leader in errors is always a 3B, SS or 2B which do not tend to be the biggest power hitters. Is this right?
But his career numbers aren't that much better than that, 235/307/433, 105 OPS+.
If I were trying to maximize value at 1B, I'd platoon him and a RHB (Sanchez?) rather than giving the job to Alvarez.
Ike Davis has pretty huge platoon splits. If I were trying to maximize value at 1B, I'd platoon him and a RHB (Sanchez?) rather than giving the job to Alvarez.
Man, my bet that Alvarez would lead the league in HRs has not turned out well.
