One of course wonders why the Reds didn't do that with Hamilton last year, instead of moving him to CF. Presumably, it's not that it simply never occurred to them; surely, they considered and rejected it. So, one would want to determine whether their reasons for moving him further down the spectrum hold up.
I'd assume that the thought was that you get the most value from his best asset if you have him in CF.
