BUT HE WAS fired Friday after six years on the job and general manager Walt Jocketty said the main reason was the way the team played in the final six games, all losses in crucial situations.
“It was a very helpless feeling,” he said. “Not only did the batters go into a Team Slump, but our pitchers were not giving us innings. I had to go into my bullpen every day when I wanted to save the bullpen for the playoffs.”
He says he is only 64,
“I hate to be judged for what I did in the last six games over what I did for six years,” said Baker.
