Read More...1. Hitting in the major leagues is fundamentally broken
What will it take for teams to start admitting that this passive-aggressive, run-up-the-pitch-count philosophy isn’t working? Apparently almost a decade of declining results isn’t enough. Entering this week:
• The number of hits per game is down for the seventh straight year.
• On base percentage has been stagnant or down for the seventh straight year.
• Strikeouts ...

Sad to say, bbc, but they've decided that this is going to be the "Broadway Danny Rose" ep of CC, which means everyone will be taking hits of helium just before they speak...
He has a voice made for administering websites.
Hopefully not the acne nor physical condition associated with said work.
And a face made for data entry.
It's going to be 5 more years until television production companies realize that this has been true since 2001.
Present a slideshow on www.historicfootballposters.com and I'll give you my entire pool winnings for the past two months. That's at least double Lassus's offer.
I'm hoping Sean is on tomorrow.
I'm hoping Sean is on tomorrow.
Sean tweeted...
"Got bumped to next week for clubhouse confidential"
It was disappointing that Sean wasn't on. On the other hand, what a fantastic ####### show.
never seen it, don't know the first thing about it, but that is a great endorsement.(no snark or jokes)
It was intended that way. Today's episode featured Brian Kenny doing a nice assessment of the type of player filling the role of DH and how that compares to 1973 and what the expectations were (referring to work in The Book for some background), followed by an interview with Neyer on a handful of subjects, an interview with Beinfest on the Marlins' new spendy ways and a quick peek into Casey Kotchman and what to expect from him in 2011. It was informative as hell.
Awesome. Wow.
sean smith looked pretty smooth in the one pic i've seen of him. he's a lil too tall for my league, but if he got any kind of good voice and stage presence, he NEED to go on the show and represent
nothing keeps a geek sterotype goin like having a lot of guys on the show who look like, uh, geeks. all squeaky tenors, too.
maybe if mrs dr foreman looks anything like erin andrews, she could, uh, bring more eyeballs to the show
Sucks that opening monologue and the segment with William H. Macy ran so long, but there is no shame in getting bumped on Clubhouse Confidential.
what's good about brain kenny also is that he really knows his stat, but can communicate to a non-stat audience, and doesn't come across as a physics genius trying to teach 5 year olds to multiply and they can't because they can't get what "times" means
i wish they could get someone on there who is a ballplayer who is a good ballplayer, talks well and gets stat - and is not someone who looks like a dork wearing a team uni he bought (brian bannister or that reliever guy who was from MIT).
it would also help to have mainstream writers like dick justice, who at least actually GET stats - even if they have little (ahem) hangups about things like bud selig and roids. it is just my opinion, but i would bet that he would fall over his feet in his eagerness to have brian kenny's job...
Ken Singleton would be perfect for this.
Just got an email that my segment for @CHConfidential will air tonight. (all times ET) 5:30pm, 7:30pm, 12:30am, 3:30am, etc. ON the MLB Network. Set those DVR's.
it all starts with bbc's review. we just have to wait til then.
I do occasional TV spots, can think of no blunter and more helpful critic than bbc would be.
i'd like to hear the voice
of course, his audience is prolly male, so he doesn't need to be teh HOTTTTT but just the same, i'd like to watch a nice lookin guy who has a good voice and is comfortable talking and seems to be the kind of guy who would be able to listen without having to interrupt or start sounding like wilbon/kornheiser
