Funny how the common wisdom is to stay even, never get too high or too low as a player due to the nature of baseball (162 game regular season) but if you have a hard loss you are expected to show pain and agony for the public or you 'just dont care'. Sigh.
EDIT: I just looked up Paps' 2013, and his k/9 has fallen off dramatically. Why is that? Maybe someone other than Papelbon for 2014?
And even then, with a decent call from the home plate umpire or some decent defense from his dynamic shortstop, and he could have had a clean sheet.
The Tigers need to go acquire a top flight reliever and install him as their closer next season.
Has Leyland ever had a good bullpen? Can't think of one off the top of my head...
I thought some of those Jim Gott bullpens in the mid to late 80s were pretty good, no?
What is concerning for Tiger fans is that he had a relatively poor regular season, which of course is much larger sample.
