I would've thought that he was out of baseball.
And now awful base running by the Czech guy.
I think October-November barnstorming would be a much better idea weather wise.
If you go to cool places, I would think a lot of young MLBers would sign up for the all-expense paid trip. Teams might not want pitchers going, but get 12 MLB position players, and let Tim Wakefield do all the pitching.
YOU CANNOT STOP TEAM ISRAEL YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN IT!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Dickey would go if you make sure that there's some mountain climbing in it.
Yeah, and I bet you could get Clemens too. Especially if you bring along his son to catch his games.
Speaking as somebody who has been Bar Mitzvah'd, I can say that baseball is definitely the most Jewish sport that's in the American mainstream. If the Israelis do make it to the WBC proper, it would be huge not just in the North American Jewish community but in Israel at well. I read somewhere that in Israel the sports pages often cover big athletes of the Jewish diaspora who are doing well in international competition. Ali Raisman was apparently a big deal in Israel during the Olympics. Have to think that if a team of Jewish ballplayers was playing against the baseball superpowers it'd get attention as well.
