Players injured during the World Baseball Classic will have their salaries paid by the WBC organization while they are unable to play for their major league teams, according to an MLB source.
That would mean that players such as Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez will be paid by the WBC during their respective absences.

In 2009 tickets for individual games went on sale around late February I think. I know I was able to buy tickets for just the US-Puerto Rico 2nd round game after the matchup was set so it was just a few days before.
I'll be in Florida for much of March at a place that doesn't have MLBNetwork so hopefully there will be some sort of AtBat style app that allows me to follow or watch the game on my phone/ipad.
I wish they'd mix up the group stages a little more. Obviously it's by region, but the US will face Canada for the 3rd time, and Mexico and Italy for the 2 time in the group stages.
Without spending too much time looking at it I think there are some political and logistical issues at work. The Asian teams obviously have to be separated to an extent and they aren't sending the US or Canada to Asia to play 1st round games. Also, they have to make sure things get lined up in such a way that Cuba doesn't play in Miami (between fears of protests and fears by the Cuban government of defection).
They probably could do more but I think there is more at work than simply laying out a schedule.
