Swan Song for Swingin’ Lovers!?

The Yankees’ contract with WCBS-AM, another one-year deal, expires following this season. So does Ma and Pa’s one-year contract. While all interested parties are talking about a possible deal, the radio situation is up in the air. CBS wants to remain the Bombers’ radio home and ESPN-98.7 is looking to take those Yankee radio rights away. Some Yankee moles suggest there are other interested outlets, too.

Not saying he's right (I'm not even sure what he's saying), but I imagine being extremely wealthy and in the middle of a long guaranteed deal might cost someone a little motivation.

Back in the day, Gossage was a fun player to watch. But, as he moves into his golden years, he is now little more than a paint-by-numbers "back in my day" ex-player. Very tiresome to listen to this type of "insight".

Agreed, except he nails the modern closer phenomenon perfectly. There's no better spokesman as to how the 60 IP, one-clean IP at a time, RP is grossly overvalued.

Reminded me of the in-their-prime 1990 A's getting swept by the Reds in the WS and my co-worker's instant psychoanalysis of "they didn't want it badly enough". And they didn't even have facial closeups on 60" screens to tell what players were thinking in those days. Almost makes me want to see Tex and A-Rod star in the 2013 postseason, but they would say Rivera made the difference.

If the Yankee are to do well in 2013, the Elder Statesmen will have to hold off Father Time another season. Could happen, but not easy.
