Yanks, Manchester City awarded MLS expansion team

Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber announced today that a partnership of global sports powers, Manchester City Football Club and the New York Yankees, has acquired the League’s 20th expansion club. The new team will be named New York City Football Club (NYCFC) and expects to begin play in 2015.

Wait, I thought Manchester United was the Yankees’ fellow member of the Legion of Doom, not Manchester City!

I love the last Paragraph of the excerpt. It implies it was not Bohlings idea because he's smart, so must have been Giradis.

Girardi also went to each concession stand and had a black cloth draped over all the choking posters. And he had the line "if they don't win, it's a shame" removed from the 7th inning stretch so it wouldn't play havoc with anyone's confidence.

I don't see what's wrong with this. If you're following the game you know who's spot is up. And it is humiliating to be hit for when you've had ARod's career.

I think its a nice gesture but it makes you wonder how much attention GIrardi is paying to the play by play of the game. Or do they have bench coaches just for that reason? I just assumed Girardi was more of a tactical manager being an ex catcher and all, but this might suggest that his job is more about personnel manager...I dunno.

It's a shame the beat writers haven't made a bigger deal of the director of mental conditioning and his role on the team. If there's a person in the organization who clearly helped less (I mean during the postseason almost every Yankee hitter's mind was the mental equivalent of a Biggest Loser contestant's sagging boobies), then I don't know who it is. The NY Post should be running front and back page stories calling for Bohling's firing. This is total horsehit.
