This team needs bats. BADLY. Like, they need Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, and Kevin Youkilis yesterday
I'm very concerned about the Yankees. For a while it looked like the hoodoo magic was going to keep them afloat until the stars returned. But when Granderson came back only to break his hand a few days later, my mood went from optimistic to pessimistic. Vernon Wells has turned back into an out machine. Cano is having a subpar year. CC looks gassed. Ichiro is cooked. Gardner can't steal or bunt. Pronk doesn't play against lefties.
The Yankees are playing 600 ball and are 5-5 in their last ten. Are we having an irrational pants-pissing thread today?
This does not take away from the fact that the Yankees are a shitty team, but Vernon Wells - Out Machine (TM) isn't especially relevant to that.
Francisco Pena has been called up to AAA and is off to a red hot start. He's hit 4 homers in 26 ABs and is now hitting .284/.343/.484 between AA and AAA. This guys star had dimmed so much that he wasn't even on Amazin Avenue top-50 Met prospects this year. He's still only 23 years old despite feeling like he has been around forever.
