Jeter can still enhance his legacy
Jeter has about as much chance of being the greatest shortstop of them all as I do.
There's a decent case to be made for Jeter at 3rd all-time at SS
I was assuming they meant greatest Yankee shortstop, which isn't particularly close.
Jeter did score 1,869 runs over the years for a reason; he knows how to get the New York Yankees from A to Z.
Who wrote that, Jeters dad?
There's really not. The absolute best case you can make for him is 5th. And even then, you have to stretch to get him past guys like Yount and Ozzie.
Jeter HRs on first pitch, against Matt Moore no less. Could be a tough day for the haters.
The haters are Red Sox fans, and currently, secretly rooting against Tampa.
I don't care what the standings say, I don't root for the Yankees. Hell, I couldn't even do it in Game 162 in 2011, so I'm definitely not doing it at the end of July.
The Yankees are done. At this point every win just gets them a worse draft pick, and maybe convinces them to put more resources into washed up albatrosses.

And even without war credit I'd rate Dimaggio above Berra.
Jeter is 2 for 2 so far today. Haters have been wrong since 1996.
Nearly two hours have passed since we have heard from the Clapper. Therefore, we may reasonably conclude that Jeter is now 2-for-4.
I could be wrong, because I've never really understood the idiotic term, but you might now qualify as a "hater." Sorry.
2-4, with an intentional walk, along with the 2 RBI. Quite acceptable from a player some here buried long ago.
Joe was the best player I ever saw. He didn't do anything wrong. DiMaggio I never saw slide. He just was there. It's funny -- I never seen him slide for a ball. He run the bases good. Every damn thing. Never seen him without a tie. Always a dark-blue suit. Sharp. He come from the sticks, too.
Mantle's only real advantage boils down to walks, but that's as much a product of the batting philosophy of the McCarthy Yankees
Oops, I keep forgetting that being no longer physically capable of playing SS and actually playing SS are the same thing.
Joe D., under McCarthy: 56 walks/600 PA
Joe D., after McCarthy: 73 walks/600 PA
That's the end of DiMaggio's career, and walks are an "old player's skill," and there are lots of possible confounding factors, but still: that's a pretty big jump.
Could be a tough day for the haters.
