I still hold that Garrett deserved to be in the vote in contest
This is GR's first chance as a starter, and he's been astounding.
I still hold that Garrett deserved to be in the vote in contest and your analogy was still - and forever will be - bullshit. This is GR's first chance as a starter, and he's been astounding.
I look forward to 2016 when the Cubs hold down all 8 starting spots and Alcantara wins the extra man ballot.
(alas, due to the team ERA of 15.36, the 2016 Cubs are barely clinging to 500 at the AS break.)
Sale is so much better and so much more deserving than those other 4, both this year and career wise, that it's a joke he had to compete with them. It's like trying to decide among Mike Schmidt, Ken Reitz, Ray Knight, Joel Youngblood, and Jerry Martin for the last man in 1979.
hough I see now that in 1979 he didn't sustain it as long.
his career splits are among the most remarkable I've ever seen, career April:
next best month: .259/.290/.366 (June)
worst month: .246/.279/.333 (July)
and it's not like he had 2 insanely good Aprils throwing thngs off
Richards this year has already bested Armstrong's career high in strikeouts and WAR. Not sure Jack threw 97 with movement and dynamite breaking stuff, but my memories are fuzzy.
The anaolgy is spot on
Sale = 1979 Schmidt
