Enrique Soto Sentenced To Ten Years In Prison

Enrique Soto, one of baseball’s most prominent trainers in the Dominican Republic for the last two decades, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of charges of sexually assaulting two boys that were part of his academy 10 years ago, according to a report that first aired Monday night in the Dominican Republic on Noticias Sin.

Better late than never.

Well Dale, I was more referring to the anachronism of calling someone a negro, anymore. It's why I referenced a guy who's long been dead and not someone like David Duke or Michelle Bachman.

Other than in a non-MSM blog, when was the last time you saw an actual headline with "Indians scalp!" in it? Which sportswriter are you referring to?

And while we're at it, when was the last time you saw a MSM headline or article that used the word "Negro" unironically for any purpose other than some sort of linguistic deconstruction? You'll sometimes see it used in an historical article followed by "as African Americans were called back then", or in reference to an Old School civil rights organization that maintains the word as part of its name, but that's about it.

Okay, now I realize that you work for The Onion, Dale. That was a newsreel from the 1948 World Series, as it said right there on the page. Didn't that footage seem kind of dated to you? Or didn't you catch the reference to "Braves Field in Boston"?

Uganda's reaction

The Ugandan government will punish those responsible if it finds that members of a youth baseball team were denied American visas for lying about their age, a sports official said Saturday.

Godfrey Mabirizi, the vice chairman of Uganda's National Council of Sports, said that the government will also apologize to the U.S. if its investigation proves their ages were falsified.

"What happened shames our country and we should not encourage it. We are going to investigate and punish those involved. Unless USA has other reasons for denying the players visas, but if it is because of lying age or disorganized documents then it is unfortunate," Mabirizi said.

Mabirizi said that in the future the council will verify age and documents of players before they leave.

He added that it is common for sportsmen in Africa to lie about their age, which he said is not good for sports.
