Steve Trachsel in 1999 was 3-13 in his first 20 starts and had a 6.73 ERA. He then had 14 more starts and went 5-5 with a 3.99 ERA from there on out.
That's what kills me here. More than his putrid stench. IT'S THAT HE'LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR.
Heh, I do like the conceit of the article, but Joe Blanton is definitely better than Mike Maroth.
Chris Sale is going to finish 6-20 with a 2.25 ERA.
Well, that's just because he doesn't know how to win, obviously.
Meanwhile, Edinson Volquez is last in the majors in ERA+ and is on pace to go 11-13.
I guess that makes Josh Hamilton the "winner" of that Volquez-Hamilton trade of promising stars now in their 30s?
