AZ Republic: Mark Grace pleads guilty to Scottsdale DUI

Mark Grace, in court Thursday, pleaded guilty to endangerment and DUI, avoiding what could have been a lengthy prison sentence.

Instead, a judge imposed a sentence that includes work-release jail time as well as three years of supervised probation. Additionally, an Interlock device must be installed in his vehicle for six months and he will need permission to travel out of state.

His work-release sentence begins Feb. 10.

Dunno about Cliff; it sure would have aided his cause REAL WELL had he not lost the last shutout (and get a ND) by giving up a homer with 2 "!%# outs in the 9th.

I don't think he can do it alone - Kershaw needs to falter. At baseball award time, last impressions matter, oui?

Voters will rationalize that if they are going to name a pitcher the MVP, cosmically then a position player has to be a CY winner.

Halladay had a chance until last night, when he gave up 4 ER and walked 4 batters for the first time in over three years.

Also of note during this game is that Arizona's lone run came on a broken-bat home run by Justin Upton that looked like a fan Maiered it (but it was upheld on review).

Kershaw could pitch poorly in his last start, while Halladay could be brilliant. Then the Phils have Halladay go 5 on the last game of the season, pick up his 20th win, and open the playoffs with Lee instead of Halladay, with Halladay starting the second game.

I really don't think they would do that unless they are happy with Lee starting game 1 to begin with. I just don't see the Phils disrupting their plans for the post season roster to accomodate some lame push for the Cy Young award.

yeah, and while it's impossible for most of us to KNOW how Doc feels about this, i'm guessing he's not giving it a huge amount of weight.

does anyone think he's gone into these past few starts giving thought to his performance's impact on his CY chances? on his future legacy? hard to imagine he's ignorant of it, but his public persona exudes a balanced approach to his profession where awards are nice, but winning is the thing.
