$1.44M sounds like a lot of savings to spend further down their draft. And a rare example of a top pick going back in the draft and making a ton more than the previous teams offer.

1. RoyalsRetro (AG#1F) posted on July 26, 2011 at 08:06 PM # hit 0 | hit 0This could get to be a hell of a thread . . . .
Running to stand still?
What was it doing, hiding?
I got to stand up, and take a step . . . .
Stand up in this dizzy world . . . .
Stand up, this is comedy . . .
It's like a small child crossing an eight lane highway
On a voyage of discovery.
If that doesn't sum up the 2011 Astros, what does?
And he still hasn't found what he's looking for.
thing is, i don't know if it really was the turf or, well, he just tripped.
pence, on the other hand, looked like he was surprised at how slick the grass was.
the cards didn't seem to have any trouble. rasmus made a killer diving catch to squelch a rally.
You know the difference between the 2011 Astros and U2? People who like the 2011 Astros are doomed to hell, through no fault of their own. On the other hand, people who don't like U2 are damned to hell by their own choice. Not sure which ring, but it's one of the lower levels, that I'm sure of.
They move in mysterious ways.
I'm just going to leave this here.
The bases had no names.
Uno!
Michael Bourn just fell in center field
Dos!
and Jose Altuve fell rounding first on a single.
Tres!
Also Jason Bourgeois had a ball elude him for an error.
Catorce!
Please. Let's not rekindle the bile that was unleashed in that thread by rehashing it here.
Frankly, I'm offended that the Astros would dare to complain about this heartland soil.
reading it over, i think there was one towards the end that pretty much sealed its fate. too bad. the presidents remarks were fun, and it sounded like they were having a good time.
ANYWAY ...
the jason bourgeois error, if i remember correctly, was just plain bad fielding.
Just did the same, & I say you're almost certainly correct.
(I have to say, the fact that Obama's very existence is enough to drive certain idiots to distraction is almost enough to make me giving a pass for being, for all intents & purposes, a Republican double agent.)
Fourteen?
gef, I listened to Journey To The End of The Night the other day. Still dig it. I also listened to Achtung Baby, and Pop so don't worry, I am still a geezer corprock clown you can mock and ridicule.
It was their fourteenth album so that is why they did that.
Achtung Baby is a helluva album. Pop, though, I don't think I've ever managed to listen to all the way through. It might be great, for all I know; I guess it's never happened to fit whatever mood I happened to be in whenever I put it on, is all. Same for the one after it.
I guess there's been at least one more since, but I lost interest quite some while ago (see also: REM, except that there the interest loss occurred going on a decade earlier).
Check out Retreat From Memphis and So Good It Hurts.
The movie this came from, "It Might Get Loud," is just OK, but the good parts are definitely fun.
Jack White is just trying too dang hard, especially compared to Jimmy Page. Page, I just want to get a cognac with or something.
Agree. I don't like the White Stripes much, but White seemed, well, serious about what he is doing.
Who is that guy -- P.D.Q. Rock?
If disliking shitty music is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Fine albums indeed, but I'd put them below not only Journey but also Curse, Rock'n'Roll, Honky Tonkin' & Edge of the World.
I love you guys.
I happen to wish rock and roll had never taken the unfortunate turn for the bleak and unlistenable in the 90s, but that's just me.
FTFY
I agree with that, actually, but you're confusing Huey Lewis and Glenn Frey with Bono.
Well, I suppose now would be a really weird time for you to stop being completely wrong about absolutely everything.
Why, thanks. What a wonderful segue into my announcement of the release of my upcoming autobiography, to coincide with my 50th birthday. It's called Perfect So Far: 50 Years of Being Wrong, and Fixin' to Stay That Way. I hope everyone picks up a copy -- to be offered exclusively at a Borders near you!
You have to admit, you had that coming ... you can't just rip into Bobby McFerrin like that with Fancy Pants around.
No. He's just stuck in a moment, and he can't get out of it.
To be made into a Broadway musical, with an original score by Bono and The Edge!
I'm sure the Marlins would like to have a hack at that discussion, as well. It seems U2 is hellbent on messing with baseball scheduling this season. I recommend a Congressional hearing on this important matter. They could be terrorists you know.
Wait, what..is that my wife posting?
exclusively at a Borders near you!
Well not quite in Aus. This thing called the internet and those pesky ebooks and ereaders put their arse out of business over here recently.
#8--very funny
I guess if you have to explain the joke, the joke sucks, huh? Oh, well.
Outstanding. (In case anyone actually doesn't know, without clicking the link, it's bound to be the most excellent Bill Bailey. 'Bewilderness' is your entry point, followed by 'Part Troll', followed by all 3 seasons of 'Black Books'. You will be glad.)
