What's the record for most consecutive at-bats at the start of a career without a hit? My google-fu and play index-fu has failed me.
edit to add: Randy Tate went 0-for-41 over his career. Did anyone go more than 41 AB before their first hit?

I just panicked. I was just trying to throw the ball to the cut-off man, but I just panicked.
Lou Camilli (a Cleveland infielder from the same time) opened 0 for 34.
But DiPerna assured me that human beings capable of panic get weeded out in the minor leagues!
Santana must be injured!
