So Trout is the 8th man to win the RoY in a unanimous vote. He could become the third rookie to win the MVP. But he'd be the first to do both, which is kind of odd.

I don't-I've always considered the ROTY award eligibility to be a bit arbitrary, to be honest.

I'm not a baseball historian at all, but I can't help but think you'd be hard-pressed to find a more blindingly obvious baseball award ever.

This is ridiculous. Miguel Cabrera won the triple crown. I don't care about his past experience, such a feat is worthy of Rookie of the Year.

Three guys available for cash only in the winter were #2/3/4 - Yoenis Cespedes and Yu Darvish along with Orioles starter (who was a free agent thus no posting fee) Wei-Yin Chen. Jarrod Parker, who the A's got in a winter trade, was 5th. Thus only the winner, Mike Trout, was with his current organization during the 2011 season. Quite odd it seems that only one of the guys in the AL rookie voting actually had time in his current teams minors pre-2012. Also sucks for fans of teams that cheaped out on Cespedes, Darvish, and Chen.
