My friends and I used to take one inning a game and only speak in baseball cliches. It could get pretty funny.

The cliche I can't stand in golf, which I never watch, isn't "perfect shot," it's "golf shot." Golf people never just say shot. "That was a great shot." It's always, "That was a great golf shot." You just have to make good golf shots.

I like "it is what it is", good philosophy and everything. You can't change something so why complain about it? We used to say FIDO....Fck it, drive on. Same concept.

Yeah - I despise "it is what it is," but only because it's used so reflexively and thoughtlessly, not because it doesn't express meaning. Cf. "que sera, sera."

Could do without "no question about it/unquestionably". Omar Visquel, Vlad Guerrero, Jim Thome, etc is, no question about it, a first ballot HOFer. Really?
