The Mets have had a lot of really good defensive centerfielders over the last decade. Cameron, Beltran, Chavez, and Pagan. Lagares is better than those guys except for the possible exception of Chavez.
Looks like a good play to me. Not a great one. Virtually every SS in the league could have made it.
I don't get it - what's the reference?
Its Jeter's signature move and TV doesn't do a very good job of telling you how far he went before the camera panned to him.
I don't think any shortstop has ever done the backhand-in-the-hole move better than Rey Ordonez though.
