It is a bit of an odd selection but made easier by Zito having slight preference to Sanchez, and Posey being the better hitter than belt. But with Belt finally coming through, this should not happen that often.

Sanchez hit the DL this week, so it shouldn't matter anymore.
Bochy pinch hit Justin Christian (who has a .592 OPS for his career) for Belt in today's game.
I don't know if I've ever seen a manager as obsessed with lefty/righty matchups as Bochy is. He does this all the time- pull a far superior hitter so he can get a righty/lefty matchup. And it especially makes no sense because Belt actually hits lefties FAR better than righties- OPS of .667 against righties and 1.001 against lefties this year. Christian, by the way, has an .387 OPS against lefties...
