When I hear someone describe a "gross habit" tossing chewing gum into a field of grass is pretty far down the list of things that my brain covers.
It's pretty gross. And then the grounds crew has to clean it up.
My surprise is that MLB hasn't told him to clean up his act.
So now we know the real reason why Nick Carraway ended the relationship.
Who goes through 18 pieces of gum in 3 hours?
Where does he throw the gum when he works home plate?
The only thing more objectionable than his behavior to me is the idea that someone could see it as defensible.
You guys are right that discarded gum and chewing tobacco are gross, but c'mon, these are baseball parks, not the floor of your grandmother's sitting room.
Yet centaur flatulence is a rich and relatively unmined area for humor.
Someone has to clean it up, and, the groundskeeper at Fenway has always had a reputation for being cranky and wanting the field to be in meticulous shape.
