Pitching well works in any era.

The Tigers pitched well all post-season. They couldn't score a damn run in two straight games in which they only gave up 2 runs. It wasn't pitching that won and lost this series, it was offensive ineptitude.

It wasn't pitching that won and lost this series, it was offensive ineptitude.

Giants pitching and defense had a lot to do with that.

I didn't realize Bill Neukom wasn't the Giants President anymore.

Sabean has received a lot of crap, including from me. But flags fly forever and the guy's got a ring for each hand. Thanks, Brian. It's also astonishing to win two in three years while turning over your entire offense with one exception. Some may say he's just lucky, but results do matter.

It's also amazing that the Giants have won two of the last three World Series when they never, at any point, seemed like a dominant team.

Had a blast watching this Series. Would never want to have to face Romo's slider....

Makes 4 of 5 (and 5 of 7) to the NL. The bottom of the NL may still be ... wait ... will now be in the AL (!), so perhaps we'll eventually stop hearing about how much stronger the AL is.

It was the last chance for a lot of people. That's the biggest reason it hurts so much.

They could be back next year, with V-Mart in the lineup. They'll need to rebuild the bullpen, but they've got good starters still.

If they didn't give him a full share it might run afoul of the agreement regarding no additional punishment.

FWIW 2 years ago the Giants set a record for the number of shares allotted, very generous and inclusive group.

But the Joint Drug Agreement requires that a suspended players’ share be reduced by the percentage of regular-season games he missed if — and this is key — the suspension also covers more than half of the team’s postseason games.

Cabrera’s suspension lasts five games into the playoffs. Thus, if the Giants play nine or fewer postseason games, Cabrera will get 72.2 percent of a full share. (117 games on the roster before his drug suspension divided by a 162-game season). If the Giants play 10 or more postseason games, Cabrera gets a full share.

All of this is mandatory.
