Peavy smiles and says: “I try not to yell; I try not to swear. But at 7 o’clock every night, I turn into someone different. I’m out there trying to focus. I’m competing. I can’t control myself. But I have three little boys. I want them to be able to watch their daddy pitch without hearing all the yelling.

What did they do?
?
I guess he wouldn't take much enjoyment in the Albert Pujols facebook meme, where they have Albert sitting in front of a big screen tv watching the Cardinals play in the post season, either.
Uh...sure.
I think that has already been proven beyond any standard over the course of the year.
You just figured this out?
He'd have been a nice guy to see in yesterday's 8th, no?
I'm sure every actual intelligent Cardinal fan knows this, since about age 9.
Harper is on the record as saying he's never done well in All-Star Games. Don't know if anybody has ever asked his history in playoffs.
Go BIRDS!!!!
Well, that sucked, but if you told me before the series that we could get out of St. Louis 1-1, I'd be ok with it.
Watching a national broadcast last week(or week before can't remember) and the announcer kept going on about how the Cardinal fans are different, in that they cheer for the other team when they make a good play, and he mentioned that the players on the other teams even talk about that.
Not sure if that makes us special, but yes, every group of fans is different, to think differently is silly.
At SABR this summer they had a scorekeepers panel and Stew Thornley (who does it in Minnesota) said that was in fact the official directive from MLB.
Agreed- hopefully everybody's worked the yips out of their system and all that
I tried a few times, but as it wasn't second-nature, it just pretty much ruined the contemplative nature of the game for me.
At games I go to, not everyone is keeping score. There are some younger kids, some huffed-up teens, some girlfriends (and boyfriends), etc., who don't keep score, but maybe 75 percent of the rest are keeping score. Don't know how that compares to other parks, but most of us (at least me and all the kids I knew) who were brought to Busch Stadium learned how by age 7 or 8 and kept it up from then on.
EDIT: A great souvenir I still have is from when I showed up for BP before a mid-'70s Cardinals-Mets game and saw Tom Seaver hanging along the front-row seats and I ran down and got his autograph on my scorecard, in Busch Stadium No. 2 pencil.
There is no way to prove it one way or the other, but generally speaking, it seems that more people keep score in St Louis then most other parks(I think Cincy is another one with a high percentage) at least according to the announcers.
That is far more than in most stadiums. I, admittedly, wasn't looking that hard, but I can't remember seeing a single person keeping score last night in OPACY.
I don't always keep score for the entire game, but usually I'll get most innings in there. I also buy the score pad that they sell, then I paperclip the ticket to the scoresheet/program so that I have a record of every game I've been to. Alas I haven't organized them in any way so it does me no good as they are spread out over about 10 different boxes.
I WAS!!!
And when I wrote 75 percent of the rest, I meant like maybe 10 or 15 percent. It certainly isn't most, but there's definitely a person or two every row, or so I recall.
That sea of orange last night was impressive. And when Martin hit that homer, you really knew how numerous O's fans were last night, because the cheers were very quiet.
WHAT THE ####, JOE?!?!
