They both have better DERs than the Cardinals.
Angel Hernandez is terrible. He's been terrible for everyone, at least, but he's still terrible.
Alex is going to have a long at-bat ending in a strikeout.
How does he even get this gig?
And it's all that much sweeter when that other team from up North is stuck in the crapper.
Yeah, whoever could have guessed that was going to happen?
Saw somewhere that, with that strikout, A-Rod now holds the record for most games ended by being struck out.
Cardinals have an Old Beltran and Holliday in the outfield, have a guy who is a DH playing firstbase(Craig) have an outfielder playing second base(Schumaker) a utility player playing etc. I don't know what the defensive numbers say, but Freese, Jay and Molina are the only everyday players who are average or plus, and Descalso and maybe Kozma are decent for bench players.
Re Ichiro scoring by circling around the catcher: How close did Ichiro come to going out of the baseline? Is there no limit to how far you can stray from the plate?
According to Deep Space Nine (which is where I usually go for my baseball rulings), the play is still live even if you're back, sitting in the dugout.
That's not right. Rule 7.08(k) says the batter is out if he makes no attempt to return. The fielder just has to touch the plate while holding the ball and appeal to the umpire.
