    Leland let Laird bat in the top of the 8th against a tough RH reliever for some reason, so yes, he was still available, and still not used.

    @365 - He's been better than Wilson for a few years now. It was actually very interesting to see how Bochy didn't use him exclusively in the 9th until September... which I thought was pretty forward non-closer mania for a big league manager.

    Man, this Tigers team doesn;t do anything the easy way (except Game 4 vs New York).

    Shitty first two games, but this is far from over. I hope they come out strong back home in Detroit.

    #314: If I had a dime for every time I screamed at the TV during '09 to the effect of "McClung can walk this guy on his own, you don't need to tell him to do it" I'd have...10 cents. But I'd have 80 cents more off the times he made Villanueva do it, same deal. 6 of the 15 walks Mark DiFelice issued in 2009 were intentional, by the way.

    #374: Postseason commercial breaks are longer. Too much nonsense. Also, re the Giants in general this postseason, too many runs cause longer games.

    No need. The only way to make this a series again is for the Tigers to sweep three games in Detroit, and that ain't happening. More likely is a four-game sweep by the Giants.

    Really, guys? You score three times in a game with JV on the mound and lose? You hold them to two runs in game two, and lose again, because you can't buy a f#cking hit off Madison Bumgarner? Really?

    Not even going to try? Really?

    Oh, well. I'm 47 now; I figure it's even money I live long enough to see Detroit in another World Series. (Hint: this team won't be back. They've already used their "Get Lucky And Make The World Series" card.)

    Maybe someday.

    The whole difference in this game might've been that the Tigers never learned a proper slide:
    If Fielder stays to the outside of home plate he's probably safe. (seriously, WTF?)
    If Infante slides straight into second he's probably safe. (SERIOUSLY, WTF?)
    There's two outs + one run back, in a tight game. Jesus, guys. FUNDAMENTALS.
