Yep, they are doing what I was worried about last year which is turn themselves into a BTF Wet Dream Team.

Yes, but they aren't weighing themselves down with long term contracts (save for 4 years for Jackson), and none of these signings block a youngster. They had to do something after trotting out a team of dreck save for Castro and Rizzo in August and September.
could wind up platooning with left-handed hitter Nate Schierholtz in right field if Soriano isn’t traded and Brett Jackson doesn’t make the team. That would move David DeJesus to a corner spot.
Um... So... RF: Schierholtz/Hairston platoon. Okay. Dejesus: Corner OF. Alright. Soriano: on the team. Jackson: Not on the team.
So Soriano is available to play CF?
Or is it supposed to mean L to R Soriano-Hairston-Dejesus vs LHP and Soriano-Dejesus-Schierholtz vs RHP?
I think they mean that Soriano off the team would put Jackson in CF and DeJesus in RF (so these guys in LF I guess) ... Jackson in CF would put DeJesus to a corner and now the Cubs have too many OFs. Most likely it just means that Jackson starts in AAA where he belongs.
I say we put him at 3B. What the heck, he can't be worse than Moreland or Bonilla or Guerrero right? He could be as good as Miguel Cabrera!

Jackson is suppose to start the season at Iowa, working on actually making contact when he swings. I suspect it will be DeJesus who will be traded first as he only one year left on his contract. Though I also believe they would trade Soriano with the right offer, but that they are no longer in a hurry to do so since he played so well last year.
