Tim McCarver's not in the HOF. Neither is Ken Harrelson.
“Well, I’m a little prejudiced on Clemens,” Torre said. “You know, regardless of whether he was cheating or not, he helped me win two world series, and besides the super-duper cool factor of that kind of thing, all things considered, the WS bonus alone was worth something like $2M to my personal bank account. Also he helped keep me employed a few years longer than I deserved. So you should totally listen to what I have to say about his HOF chances. Or not."

I would consider all of Ozzie Guillen, Pete Rose, and Jose Canseco significantly more insufferable than Torre.

The line begins with Tony LaRussa, and Torre's not even in the picture.
We need to distinguish between insufferable peak and insufferable career. Also, are you insufferably small hall? To me, Torre is a classic Hall of the Not So Very Insufferable candidate. Whatever insufferable credentials Torre has (throwing A-Rod under the bus, those eyebrows), he will never be an inner circle insufferable. That's reserved for the true legends like Cobb, Comiskey, Anson and Joe Buck.

Wait, really? Other than being a bit skeezy towards A-Rod, what else has he done/said?
Also, I'm struggling with how this article is evidence of Joe Torre being insufferable.

Jose Canseco is awesome. Its like he's doing some sort of surrealist performance art that is commentary on the price of fame.
The answer for most insufferable non HOFer of course is Jack Morris.
