BtBS: Kevin Gregg Re-emerges in Chicago

[A]s of May 16, Kevin Gregg has thrown ten innings without allowing an earned run. Over those 10 frames, he has faced 39 batters surrendering just five hits and four walks and striking out 12 batters. Because it’s just 10 innings, I’m probably making too big a deal out of his success, but remember this is the same pitcher that:

*Was released by the Dodgers during Spring Training. The Dodgers’ pen ranks 25th in the Majors in ERA.
*Registered a 4.62 ERA, 4.95 FIP, 4.83 xFIP over the last ...

Not only were the Castro walks not intentional but he took the pitchet to a 3-2 count 7 times this month before drawing a walk. From April to July he had 7 such walks. So that is encouraging as well.

Off-topic: a bunch of you guys gave me Wrigley ticket advice a few weeks ago, and I just wanted to thank you all again. I was at the game on Saturday- we got $50+ tickets in section 415 for $24 each on stub hub, and had a great time.

Vitters does have a hilarious .098 BABIP, but even giving him tons of normalization just brings him up to "really bad" The hope here has to come from the fact that he's been terrible at every level when he first hits it, before making the proper adjustments. But those are a hell of a lot of adjustments he needs to make.

Barney now has 5 runs in rBase. In 1991 Rickey Henderson played 7 games more than Barney has so far and he accumulated 5 runs as well. Rickey went 58/18 in stolen bases while Barney has gone 6/1. Rickey took the extra base 55% of the time and Darwin has taken the extra base 43% of the time. Rickey took a total of 52 extra bases while Barney has taken a total of 37.

Total it up and it is 110 bases for Rickey and 43 bases for Barney. Rickey has 26 outs on the base path and Barney has 1.

Cubs have to go 11-15 to lose 100 games. That's a .423 winning % and they are currently at a .375 winning percentage.

Just like in the early part of August I have to ask again. Are the Cubs going to win a game in September?

What is the worst finish in Cubs history? They are 8-26 since the start of August, that has got to be putting them in the running for worst finish in their history.
