This is kind of douchey, of course, but I don't see that it's really all that much different from guys like Scott Radinsky writing songs that obliquely reference life as a ballplayer.

They're the most Epitaph, Orange County punk sounding band ever, but they aren't bad at all. I don't even like that subgenre that much but they're very listenable.
