Was SABR involved in this at all? There is no reason for a baseball bio-pic to get made that doesn't have "and special thanks to the Society for American Baseball Research" in the end credits. I'm sure a call to someone at SABR by the studio could have put Ford in touch with an expert on Rickey. While Ford would still need to work there would be this great resource for him to use to really nail the role and make the picture the best it could be.
