The thread, in one post:
1) The world weeps for you, Jamie
2) It is shocking, I repeat SHOCKING, that Frank McCourt would deceive someone for money
3) This couple was made for each other
4) Maybe next time you should do your own diligence before signing an agreement?
5) Based on the real numbers, the Hall of Fame should have been at least 7 players bigger this week. Sometimes, the real numbers are irrelevant.
The McCourts are both grifters, nothing more. They ran the simplest, most vulgar scam over and over, and now they're both ludicrously rich for it.
They attempted to con each other in the divorce proceedings, it looks like Frank did a better job. Our world would be a better place if neither of them had existed.
When the two of the them 'owned' Baltimore's Fishmarket nightclub back in 1988 (their training ground for what they did with the Dodgers; amazingly similar situation and results) and I was the Director of Ops for Opryland's management team, every time I left a meeting with them or the two of them and her dad, Jack Luskin (local Baltimore ex-discount appliance king), I wanted to take a long, hot shower and forget the whole thing.
They were an unpleasant, vain, and stupid couple. It's good to see that Jamie sans Frank is basically the same shallow, vapid, vain person. Jack would be proud of his greedy little girl.

I hope they don't have kids.

When the divorce agreement was announced, wasn't it thought she did well, that it was though there was a chance Frank would end up with nothing out of the Dodgers sale after all debt was repaid. I also thought I remembered that there was concern that Frank would not be able to make the first major payment he owed Jaime if the sale was delayed any further, and how that would complicate the bankruptcy more.

I sat behind one their sons at a Phils-Dodgers playoff game at CBP. He wore a douchey sideways blinged out Dodgers hat and spent the first inning texting his mom (which is how I knew who he was.) He brought a silconed arm ornament who clearly had zero idea a baseball game was being played 20 yards in front of her. She talked on her phone and sucked down mixed drinks while Douchey chanted "Man-dog! Man-dog!" when Manny Ramirez entered the on-deck circle in front of us. It was an impressively douchey display overall and I hope the McCourt's other kids are just like him.

#1 just about sums it up, but I like the stories in #5 and #9, too. It's rather mind-boggling that Jamie is actually trying to get people to feel sorry for her. "Waaahhh. That meanie Frank only gave me $131 million when I deserved $900 million."
Well, Jamie isn't the only one who pleads for sympathy while poor-mouthing with her mouth full. There are a number of entire political classes who feel that too much is never enough. What's Woody Allen's line: "Life is full of misery, loneliness, and suffering - and it's all over much too soon."
Until Bob's post, I had *no* idea that Jamie McCourt was Jack Luskin's kid! 695 just isn't the same without the old Luskin's sign.

I seem to recall that, although she had practiced family law for several years, Jamie tried to pull the old "oh, I just can't understand all these complicated documents!" trick just before the agreement, so that she could disavow anything she signed that proved to be inconvenient.
Yes, it is rather difficult to believe that anyone with a legal education, much less an actual practicing lawyer, would just sign off on whatever agreement her adversary puts before her, just trusting in good faith to that adversary's good will in looking out for her interest.

its scary to think that were it not for the highly public divorce they went through, the mccourts would probably still own the dodgers.
Yup, phred. That's the obvious good side of the divorce.
The bad side is that with them married, that's only two completely unhappy people. If they should each latch onto some other person, then there were will be at least four completely unhappy people.

Watch for the new Bravo reality series: Ex-Housewives of Former Dodgers Owners.
Fwiw, I know a bunch of people who work closely with Frank McCourt, and while they agree that he's a slime ball, they kind of like him. He's also said by them to be whip-smart. So while it may be amusing to poke fun, people should realize that he's a very capable businessman.
Very true, he managed to pillage the dodgers and still make out like a bandit when they sold them. How much did he walk away with after all the debts were settled with?

hard to say, but the los angeles business journal had him ranked in the top 50 wealthiest angelenos last year with just under a billion in net worth.

Half the owners in the league make her look like a piker in this regard.
