The issue of redheadedness and athletic performance took center stage before the 2011 NFL draft, when Sports Illustrated’s Peter King interviewed an anonymous head coach who questioned Texas Christian University product Andy Dalton’s ability to lead a team from the quarterback spot. The scout’s objections were based less on Dalton’s arm strength, pocket presence and his Wonderlic score than his hair color.

Later on Thursday, the Red Sox announced that Magee has in fact signed with the organization. However, this will not effect Magee's status with ASU's football team for his senior season in 2012.

I feel dumb, but how can this be true?

NCAA rules allow athletes to go pro in one sport and remain "amateur" in another.

I guess with less money to throw around, teams have less leverage to forbid a player from doing something like this.

I believe whats-his-name in Toronto will also be playing college football in addition to playing for the Blue Jays in the minors. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of this with the new CBA in place, now that teams can only spend so much money to convince two-way players to stick to only baseball.

Holy ####, that might be the worst MiLB line I've ever seen. .000/.143/.000

That's 28 PA, 4 BB, and 23 K. So he made only one out that wasn't a strikeout. Damn. Poor kid. He did have 1 RBI, though.

Can anyone find a worse MiLB line?

Boston drafted, within five rounds of each other (18th and 23rd), two two-sport athletes? Maybe that's less "two-sport athletes" and more "football players."

They thought 2+2 added up to a 4-sport athlete, and they'd have a hockey player and a basketball player too in the deal. Based on early returns, SGT is accounting for 2 of the non-baseball sports.
