He's certainly not a no-brainer, but if you subscribe to the "must play on a contender" school of MVP voting, Gonzalez is certainly in the conversation. I think that criteria is ridiculous, but I don't think ESPN created it.
Agree, as guys like Andre Dawson and Ryan Howard have proven beyond a reasonable doubt, you must be on a contender to win the MVP.
