looking at the scorecard, Boomer mentioned Yuma.
I don't know if it counts but Chris Perez tweeted that he is sitting next to Reggie Jackson.
Homerun in the pool.

Another idea: After the victor wins, the stadium goes dark. Then, a Asian Riff is played. A spotlight appears in the outfield, and we find, simply... Ichiro. He declares that he wants to face the champion in a battle of home run batting skill.
Also, I really, really hope Captain America doesn't suck.
I don't ever get the hate for the derby. It's just for fun. And it very much can be fun.
Congrats Cano!

First round kinda sucked, but some great displays in the 2nd round and the finals. Congrats to Robbie Cano, he put on one hell of a show tonight!

One of the funnest derbies in a while. Even Chris Berman couldn't have ruined thsi one. I love Cano and his swing. I hope that this means they'll interview Jose Cano at some point. You know he's something when he names his kid Robinson.
That was a lot of fun. As I said upthread, it's for fun and it is fun. If you didn't enjoy this you either weren't muting Mr. BACKBACKBACK or you've forgotten what it was like to be the kid playing Home Run Derby in your backyard.

1) Homers are way better when you hear the sound of the bat.
2) Big Papi said something charming every five minutes or so.
3) Berman tried to ruin it, but I held strong.
I listened to it, because Kruk and Garciaparra aren't that bad and you should be able to block out annoying sounds. This has been proven on trans-pacific flights.
I also listened because I like to hear the crack of the bat and the players talking.
Berman sucks, but what can you do? It's still a lot of fun.
It's not *actually* very hard. You listen to what you want to hear (e.g. the sound of the ball off the bat, the crowd cheering, the occasional interview) and you ignore the rest (Berman).
i actually had the sound on. i block out berman. he's much easier to block out than, say, milo and his idiot clounzz
i enjoyed this one - prince really made a mistake not asking justin upton and asking rickie weeks instead - rickie ain't the hitter justin is
i wish they had always used these rules - the old system was silly. the derby i went to in 04 was great - berkman almost won - AND he was hitting righty
Probably just happenstance, but the Ortiz team obliterated the Fielders 76-19 or something like that. Of course, having both finalists be from one's team helps a bit.

and the padres threw adrian gonzalez away why? interesting that now that he's not playing for some west coast team that suddenly he's a great player?
It'll be up there with that other great Marvel movie, Howard the Duck.
Underrated game.
In some circumstances, can be used to save the world.
But his mind is not for rent... to any god or government....
JETER REFERENCE!
Thank you.
Nice display by Cano, I thought this was over, but he's putting on an amazing display.
GORGEOUS!
Congrats Cano!

And the story of this Home Run Derby has got to be Robby Cano's dad.
I like a Yankee!
THE HORROR!
That turned out to be loads of fun.
When he signs his contract to relieve for the Orioles.
Did anyone enjoy it and *not* have it on mute?
