This win was specially satisfying, beating Magallanes on the final for the first time (this was the third time both teams met in the final round), and in light of bragging by He Who Shall Not Be Named, a known Magallanes fan.

Combining regular season and playoff statistics, Francisco Liriano hurled 40 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run this winter in the DR. I did brief recaps of the Dominican finals games here:

NOTE: The CaribWS is weird in that often times the teams that win the League Championships will be bolstered by other players from that country for the CaribWS, so just because a Player is on a team now doesn’t mean they will be during the WS itself.

After every stage of the season is done, the surviving teams can choose players from the eliminated teams as reinforcements and/or replacements for players whose participation is restricted by their MLB teams.

Between this and MLB-established players reporting late, the teams that play in the Caribbean Series look nothing like they were at the start of the season in October. On occasion, some teams (specially the Dominicans) stop the pretense and send an All-Star team of available players.
