Is this really true?
Read More...Baseball teams change at a glacial pace. I’m not talking about how a team does in a given season…that can change quite dramatically…I’m talking about what a team is: the broad scope of a team’s talents, their strengths and weaknesses. A team that’s good at converting a double play generally stays good at turning the double-play, just as a team with a terrible bullpen can’t make that bullpen a strength, at least not quickly. A team that gets lots of production ...

Gonfalon Bubble posted on November 26, 2012 at 02:50 PM # hit 0 | hit 0What a heartwarming tale all around: Melky has huge first half, is MVP of All-Star Game that, as fate would have, gave the Giants home-field advantate in the World Series - but he misses the second half of the year while under suspension. Yet the plucky Giants win anyway.
They should make a movie out of this: "The Unnatural"
Why was the share lower in 2007-2011? It's only based on the minimum number of games per series, so it's not number of games played. Smaller stadiums? Couldn't be lower ticket prices.
More shares? The rules only set the size of the bonus pool and the minimum number of shares. the players can add more shares and cash awards as they like, but that obviously lowers the value of each share. A quick Google only reveals the shares back to 2006 (excluding unspecified cash awards and rounding off): The '05 Cards voted 55, the '07 Red Sox 61, '08 Phillies 52, '09 Yankees 58, '10 Giants 60, '11 Cards 64, '12 Giants 61.
For some reason I remember that the 07 Red Sox set a record for number of shares, and it looks like most of the subsequent winners have followed that example.
It depends on how many players get shares. If more players receive them, each player's share will be reduced.
Edit: A Kirkland Cola to Bhaakon.
because using drugs = betting on baseball.
we especially need despicable curs like freddy galvis thrown out and horsewhipped for having sex with a woman who was using a vaginal suppository to treat a vaginal condition (yes, he tested positive for a vaginal suppository drug which enhances performance of a woman's cervix)
men like him who get vaginal suppository medications all over his penis and in his bloodstream and urine are a disgrace to the sainted memory or clean heroes like mickey mantle
