2013 Results: Bonds, Clemens, Piazza and Biggio are elected to the Hall of Merit!

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!

The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.

Bonds and Clemens were each unanimous at 1 and 2. I believe that’s the first ...

In 2011, Valentine took a job as Stamford’s director of public safety, a role in which he was seen directing traffic near a crowded interstate but decidedly not seen when Hurricane Irene hit the city in December.

southern connecticut will never forgive bobby v for his tepid response to the hurricane that cancelled christmas in 2011.

I honestly thought this was some sort of Scrubs revival that Valentine was pushing for a second.

Baseball fans may best know Valentine from his stints managing the Rangers, Mets and then never managing again in the majors. Nope, not once. Never did it.

I was skiing with some friends over the weekend in Vermont and Bobby V & co. ended up at the next table during the apres skiing. I have handheld video of Bobby V, hands raised, clapping to the Boys II Men hit "End of the road" as he sings along with the lead singer of the event (who later confessed he had no clue who Bobby V is).

TMZ might pay me anywhere from eight to ten dollars for this video, but I will not sell and infringe on the man's privacy.

I'm fine with this as long as it doesn't portend doom for the coaching career of Dave Bike. I've been married for 15 years, have twin ten-year-olds, and Dave Bike has been the head men's basketball coach at SHU since I was two years old.

He's been there so long that Mike Morgan was an 18-year-old who'd only played for one MLB team when Bike started.

It was so surreal watching local news during a snow storm and seeing a reporter interviewing him. I honestly said aloud to myself, "wait... that is him."

Bobby Valentine got fired after one ugly season in Boston but according to him, it didn't matter who the manager was.

"I thought I did a hell of a job in Boston," Valentine said. "I thought what had to be done there was done, except for winning a pennant- but Connie Mack wasn't gonna win with that team."
