Is there an better way to search for clips, aside from the search bar at the top? I tried searching for White Sox clips and it comes up with every Sox clip on the site- including interviews and features and such.

The Endy Chavez is one of very few times I can remember screaming out loud while watching a game alone in my house tht I had no rooting interest in.

The Coco Crisp catch (50) was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. I was in the bar in Seattle at the SABR convention and the room was full of SABR members. After the catch the room was abuzz with memories of the best catches people had seen. The ages and memories ranged well over half a century and was just a ton of fun. My single favorite memory of the eleven SABR conventions I've been too.

Gary Matthews, Sr. made a catch in CF in 1979 or 80 that was part of the intro for TBS Braves games. Plucked the ball with his glove going down, over the fence as the ball was going down. I'd be shocked if it wasn't better than a whole bunch of the catches in the Top 75 list.

NEW YORK - After nearly six hours of baseball, one dramatic comeback by the New York Mets and nearly another, all anyone could talk about was Mark McGwire's monstrous 502-foot blast in the first inning of the first game.

"I was as astounded as anybody. Wow!" New York's Mike Piazza said yesterday after the Mets split a doubleheader with the St. Louis Cardinals, winning the opener 8-7 and losing the second game 7-5.

McGwire hit two home runs in the opener to become the first player with 50 homers in four consecutive seasons.

It might not stir the passions of fans the way McGwire did last year while shattering Roger Maris' season home-run record with 70. But only 18 players have hit at least 50 in a season. Hank Aaron never hit 50 in a season while slamming 755 in his career.

"Last year I did something (Babe) Ruth never did," McGwire said of hitting 70 home runs.

"Now I'm trying to set a precedent for other people."I think (hitting 50 homers) has always been a goal of mine. It's not too shabby of a year, and not that many people do it."

Big Mac's 49th homer was a gargantuan shot off Octavio Dotel. It left a dent about 60 feet high on the Shea Stadium scoreboard in right-center.

"That amazed me," McGwire said. "That's as hard as I've hit a ball to the opposite field."

The shot shattered a light bulb in the "16" for Ray Lankford's number - just a few feet below McGwire's "25." In the bottom of the third, a worker climbed up the back of the scoreboard to screw in a new bulb.

McGwire's 50th homer looked routine compared to his first-inning blast. He led off the seventh with a fly ball that just cleared former teammate Shawon Dunston's glove and the 396-foot sign in left-center.

Dunston retrieved the ball, but gave it to a fan, not realizing it was McGwire's 50th.

"It would be nice to have, but Shawon didn't know," McGwire said. "It didn't bother me too much because a young kid has it."

McGwire, who went 0 for 3 with two walks in the second game, has 50 homers after 125 games for the second straight year. That is the second-fastest pace ever, behind Chicago's Sammy Sosa - who has 51 in 122 games this season.

"I take care of myself, he takes care of himself," McGwire said. "I have no control over anybody else. The only thing I'm chasing is No. 51."
