Sorry OCF for not getting this posted earlier. Things have been crazy. We had a mouse in the house for a few days, so I went OCD from Saturday through Monday night, literally re-organizing my entire pantry Saturday all day and cleaning and organizing the garage from 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. Monday night. 8 mouse traps caught nothing; then the new electronic zapper killed all three of them overnight Monday and ended our captivity.

When I finally came up for air Tuesday my dad came from 6 hours away with our Christmas tree, and we had furniture come in and we're still unpacking and spending time with my dad. All of this while working too. Hopefully the worst has passed, I would have never guessed just finding time to post (let alone read) would be so nearly impossible. I guess this is what being a grown up is? Had to happen eventually.

I would still be interested in perhaps building some sort of automated solution, if anyone is interested in that. I could set up an online ballot, and have it automatically compile results.

I think the hallofmerit.com domain still points to my host...somewhere, haha. I think it's pointed at my old host. Some of you remember I did start on something a while ago and, Jesus! That was three years ago?? My goodness. I am in the middle of moving as well but, I could definitely put some time into something if anyone is interested in moving to that...just mentioning since Joe says the compiling is a "nightmare." Anything I can do to develop something that might lift that burden...I would definitely love to help out and would be open to ideas.

If there is any interest in this, just let me know. Toss some ideas at me.

This is an elect-four year, I believe, based on reading that thread.

I'm still tallying.

The only job I have the knowledge to do right now is tabulating results. However, if you told me what is involved in typing up the results - what's so hard about it - it's possible that I can do that without massive strain. I've self-published, edited, copy edited, and proofread, the last three for money, so complex typing is something I've dealt with before. If formatting the results to make them thread-friendly is the problem, well, I'd need to learn how to do that, but I think I could probably learn it. - Brock Hanke

If we keep John's helpful and extensive style of table, it will be the worst part of the job, and may be best left to whomever posts the thread. Whoever that is needs to check that all the alignments are right.

Shock, definitely on the website. I know we always get ambitious this time of year, but I really would like to do something, especially with the plaque room.

Setting up an online ballot would be great, but would that be an additional step for the voters? Voters, would you be OK with that extra work if needed? Also, we would need to secure it (I'm an information security guy by trade), to make sure no one was able to hack into it, vote multiple times, etc. to alter or manipulate the results.

Last year's results are stickied (2nd after this year's ballot) at the top of the Hall of Merit home link too.

Last year I wrote the biographical entries for the past 2 HOM inductees...would be willing to do it again this year as well. I don't think the ones I wrote ever got put on the plaque room though...I assume that is something only Joe or DL can do, but if I am mistaken let me know.

I was counting ballots until this morning, but when I got home from work this evening, I found that my laptop - in which I was storing this data - had died.

That's OK. So far ronw and I are agreeing on the count and I think we have it under control.

fra paulo can edit also. If you want to take care of the plaque room we can add you as an editor.

DL I am game for whatever. In theory, the plaque room only needs to be updated once a year, so I don't know if it is worth it or not to add me as an editor or if it makes more sense for you or Joe or fra paulo to add as appropriate. You all can decide.

I had helped John by editing the plaques since I joined the project around 40 "years" ago and am happy to continue to do so.
