Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!
The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.
Bonds and Clemens were each unanimous at 1 and 2. I believe that’s the first ...

I'm sorry - botched that one up. It's one of the worst trade in Red Sox history. Not a bad one at all for the O's. Wrote that bit backwards.
Getting rid of Miguel Tejada wasn't that bad of a move.
They never shoulda got rid of Baines. Or, they never shoulda added on Baines. Or both.
That one never bothered me all that much. The guy they got pitched well for three years and helped the team to two win division titles. And by the time the best player from that deal got around to putting it all together, it's doubtful he still would have been a member of the Sox anyway.
It sure isn't any Bagwell for Larry Andersen, a guy who pitched about as well as he could have been expected to. The trouble was, he was still just Larry Andersen.
Omar Quintanilla. Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Poetic? This is going back a few years, but Kirby Puckett.
"There once was a man from Nantucket..."
I want to second what SoSHIally said with more emphasis. That was a very good trade for the Sox. They won the division in 1988 by one game and in 1990 by two games and likely would have won neither title without Boddicker. I think this was a very good trade for the Red Sox (and the Orioles as well of course). This was as close to the perfect "win-win" trade as you can possibly get. I would doubt that many of these trades have worked out as well for both teams as this one did.
Lousy band name but good fantasy baseball name.
I'd really like to whack the Dolans in the kneecaps with a ball peen right about now. I can see where this is going: "We made a commitment to winning, bringing in veteran reinforcements like Jason Marquis and Kosuke Fukudome, and the fans still didn't show up. Screw it - there's no reason to spend money if the fans won't come out to the park."
*sigh*
