1. Shooty is in the Trust TreeJust 10 pitchers threw all but 15 of the Reds' innings. Flame-throwing younguns like McCool, 24-year-old Jim Maloney and 23-year-old Sammy Ellis. A deep rotation of lefty Jim O'Toole, Joey Jay, Maloney, knuckleballer Bob Purkey and Joe Nuxhall made it possible for McCool and Ellis to work mostly out of the pen along with old war horses like Bill Henry* and Ryne Duren. Managed by Hutchinson, who knew pitching and how to run a staff. Unfortunately, they lost him during the season, though the record shows they played well after he went on leave.
* - Left in unscrupulous hands, Bill Henry's 1964 APBA card could wreck a league, because he hit .500 in his 6 at-bats.
Hanging out with Carmen Sandiego would be my guess.
