do people wear name tags? do the tags have all the various handles posters have used over the years? I've always been impressed, if that's the word, how well so many posters seem to be able to recall name histories of ever-changing-name peers here.
If Ray hurts himself I'm going to refuse to call 911 because of Obamaphone.
No worries. I'm on the John Kruk fitness plan; you never see anybody go on the DL with pulled fat.
I don't think Jose Canseco is going to be able to come out and play softball with us.
Who's going to do the write-up of the game? Is Howard available? Or Mike Silva?
Which four of us are going to #### Alyssa Milano?
Dibs on going first...
Determined by post game WAR rankings.
Can we pay-per-view to BTF the epic black hole of mirthful fail that shall be collectively bestowed upon you by Ms. Milano? We could rent Yankee Stadium next year with that money.
I'd also recommend a temp agency--it's how I got my job!
I can contribute a softball. I think. I'd have to find it first.
I'm seriously thinking about coming, despite the 515 mile drive. It's unfortunate neither the Mets or Yankees are in town during that weekend though.
As we get closed to the actual date, should we start talking supplies?
I am happy to round up some clinchers and bring a bat -- but it looks like we'll be covered there.
Nah, Ray, please pick up a few Clinchers, just in case Sam's "softballs" actually amount to rolled-up boxer shorts held together with partially-frayed twine.
Do any NYC primates want to get together to throw a ball around in the next few weeks? I haven't thrown a ball in anger since the last game and my arm could use some warming up.
If locals have bats and balls I'm going to travel as light as possible and just bring a couple of gloves. If I need to bring the gear bag, I will, but if I can get away without checking large metal bludgeoning weapons (they don't let me carry that on these days) I will.
As long as there is mutual agreement not to mock anyone's swing I am up for this.
As long as there is mutual agreement not to mock anyone's swing I am up for this. I'm determined to hit the ball out of the infield this year.
If any of you guys want practice, and are not terrible or too good, you are welcome to play with my friends and I. We play hardball (not softball) every Saturday at a field in Queens. We're not very good, but it is fast pitch (like high 60s) and it's an absolute blast. Seriously -- everyone is welcome -- I'd be glad to provide the info. We actually have a site: www.summerbaseballleague.com
Weekend or weekday better?
That leaves bases. Anyone...? Anyone...?
